Laptop, phone, Nokia PC Suite, internet on a train without resorting to anything other than a full-size keyboard.
I like living in the future.

Dear Person Who Plumbed In Our Dishwasher,
Given that the kitchen is in an extension and the appliance in question is up against the exterior wall with drainage in the yard outside...
(to say nothing of other logistical issues which may become evident)
...in what plumbing scheme is it considered a good idea to put the exit flow for the overflow pipe connected to a high-volume water appliance inside the goddamn house?!
Yrs.,
D. Mowatt Ex-Morrisons Mop Jockey, and glad of it for once

Oi, Becky:
I don't think you ever made it to Zul'Aman, so you won't have met Harrison Jones, adventurer extraordinaire, who meets a bit of a sticky end at the hands of some trolls when you open the gates.
Well, he shows up alive and kicking (although in a cage) in Grizzly Hills, in a troll crypt. You rescue him. There is a giant snake.
All in all, it's good so far :)

If this doesn't make sense to you, fair enough; you can simply pass over the enormous magnitude of this event.
For those that do get it: with a mere four days to spare, I am finally Jeroen, Hand of A'dal.

Regardless of why I have people on my Friends lists, I know I can count on some similarities between all you wonderful folks.

Rikk asked me once to revel in things, even just songs, that made me think, "Yes, the world is good."
A couple of years ago, the Arcade Fire did a gig at Portchester Hall in London. They went out the front-of-house steps past the crowd on the way out. This is what they did in the lobby.

I am presently reading Nation by the inimitable Mr Pratchett. It's been sitting around for a while, waiting for me to really get stuck into it. I am about a third of the way through, it's going well, and here is my opinion thus far.
( No spoilers lie within )

Okay, folks, here's today's challenge.
I need to write more. I know this fact. I need to get back into the habit properly. But I keep getting hammered by writer's block. It's an unfortunate tendency that can really only be overcome with constant repetition and lots of caffeine. I have one of these things and need to start on the other.
Generally, however, I am lacking in basic inspiration rather than that essential turn of phrase. This is where you lovely people come in.

For those who care (which might not even be the people who were there at the time), most of the giant stain I had on my leg as a result of yesterday's biro-in-pocket explosion is now gone, but there is a small, persistent mark that won't scrub off, so I'm going to have to hope that it either fades away naturally, or simply wait for my skin to abrade.
It's Monday morning, folks!
At least it doesn't look like anything obscene.

Hello to anyone who is paying enough attention to notice me friending them. Given that I've now met you in person I thought it would seem less bizarre than otherwise.
Hmm, I suppose I should really actually write things on here.

For the attention of, well, most people here, I think, but particularly (given your recent posts), Helen.
Bwahahahahaha!
And there's more of this sort of stuff in the Related Videos.
Rumour is that it points to another revival in the works soon. Now, I thought Muppets Tonight! didn't get anywhere near as much credit as it deserved, and if they're having another pop, all power to them. Heck, put it all on the internet, I'd subscribe...

Breaking a long silence to wank on about RPGs and how to make my new campaign kick ass.
If you are a) interested in RPGs and b) not a player or prospective player, you will be able to see the next entry. If you wish to be removed from or added to this filter, please say so. (Levi, for pity's sake, if you can see this, please don't say so :P)

I can't even really be surprised, he was 86, but still...
Time for a game of Mornington Crescent, I think.

While visiting my parents they were watching some TV they had recorded, and one of the items was a documentary from BBC2's current Wonderland strand called "The Curious World of Frinton-on-Sea". I cannot really describe it in detail as words cannot do it true justice; I watched the whole thing and was still convinced by the end of it that the whole thing had largely been faked, because it seemed far too similar to a League of Gentlemen/Victoria Wood-style spoof.
It was made largely by accident; the documentary crew went to film the campaign to save the town's manually-operated level crossing gates from being replaced by automatic barriers... but they discovered most of the town's residents were completely barking mad and decided to make a far more interested show about them instead.
The show is available on the BBC iPlayer service (second row down on the right) for another five days, and is hilarious and kind of poignant at the same time. If you have some time to spare to watch some fantastically well-made TV, I would recommend you do so.
